Minutes of the Lebanon Public Library Board of Trustees
April 27, 2005
Vice President Sharon Wood called the meeting to order. President Jane Myers was unable to attend. Members attending were Kandi Caldwell, Linda Jones, Jon Nixon, David Koehler, and Marsha Truitt. Also attending were Matt Mayol of OMS, Dan Sulkoske of Kramer, Incl., Tony Robbins, CPA, David Truitt, Library Attorney, and Glenna Lenox, Library Office Manager. Donna Boone sat in for Director, Kay Martin.
Correspondence was received and read from Martha Roblie, G. Faulkner, and Marge Erskine.
The Secretary’s Report was shared. David Koehler made the motion and Linda Jones gave the second to approve the minutes as corrected.
Glenna Lenox explained the Capital Projects. Our rate is now .0086. Marsha Truitt made the motion and Kandi Caldwell gave the second for the Resolution to adopt the Library Capital Projects Fund Plan. The meeting was then open to the public. The only questions and comments came from Board Members.
Claims were shared. Marsha Truitt made the motion and Kandi Caldwell gave the second to pay the claims, items 2119-2165.
On the building update, Dan Sulkoske shared that as a result of use of premium time, the building project is now back on schedule. The Subcommittee to Changes on the Original Contract met before the Library Board meeting. The first change order was $13,920.
Under Unserved Boone County Library Areas Committee, Jon Nixon said that he, Jane Myers, Huck Lewis, and Kay Martin had been in discussions with Rob Guest, who is interested in library service for his township (Worth). Jon recommended that a letter of proposal for a Library Branch for Worth Township be sent. This would mean that Worth Township would agree to pay taxes into the Library District. Linda Jones made the motion and Kandi Caldwell gave the second.
The E-mail Policy was given a second reading. After discussion, it was tabled until the May meeting.
Donna shared a copy of Jamey Hickson’s Advanced Certification in Conversational Spanish. She also shared an article from the Crawfordsville Journal Review about the new librarian in Linden. She referred to using the Lebanon Public Library.
David Truitt stated that Jerry Trapp has filed a tort claim notice against the library.
Budget training for Board Members will be held on Saturday, May 14, at 9:00 a. m.
The next Board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at 4:30 p. m.
David Koehler made the motion and Kandi Caldwell gave the second to adjourn the meeting.
