Minutes Of The Lebanon Public Library Board Of Trustees
February 27, 2002
Ruth Lucas, Jane Myers, Linda Jones, Marsha Truitt, members of the Board were present. Kay Martin, Library Director, and Todd Meyers, Library Attorney were also present. Ron Morelock, Huck Lewis, and Sharon Wood were unable to attend.
The Secretary’s report will be reviewed next month.
Ruth told us in the Treasurer’s Report that we had an extra appropriation at the end of 2001, and we will carry that money forward. We need to transfer appropriations from one category to another. Marsha made the motion for the transfer and Linda gave the second.
Kay gave a Technology report update. The Library had applied for a $5000 grant. We were awarded an LSTA (Library Services Technology Act) Grant in the amount of $4000. Many projects had to be cut in order to keep within the funding available. The cost of the printer was subtracted, since they felt it wasn’t an eligible expense.
Comments were made again on how good the Board felt the Department Reports were. We always enjoy being informed. Kay has hired four new part-time people: Sandra Robinson and Susan Bahr for Circulation, and Ellie Doun and Hannah Myers for the Children’s Department.
Kay told us in the Director’s Report that Donna and Jamey did training for Reference and the Heritage Room for the staff. The Friends of the Library page is now on the Website. We also purchased a new laminator at the end of the year.
Under New Business, movie licensing for $725 was discussed. Also, Ann Fetters is wanting her students to have a painting dedicated to the Library from a Hoosier painter.
Under Old Business, April 30 and May 1 is the ILF State Convention at the Indianapolis Convention Center.
Marsha made the motion to approve the claims and Linda gave the second.
The next meeting will be Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at 4:00 p.m.
