Minutes of the Lebanon Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting
May 22, 2000
Board President, Jane Myers, called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. Ron Morelock was unable to attend. New Board member, Linda Jones, was welcomed. Jerry Alexander and Ed Schwabach were also present.
A motion to approve the Secretary’s Report was made by Ruth Lucas. The second was given by Sharon Wood. Ruth reported in the Treasurer’s Report that we are still waiting on an advance draw the mid-year money would come in June.
Huck Lewis reported for the Building Committee that the general inspection, the Phase I environmental risk report and radon test had been conducted on the Lawler property, currently owned by Don Brandenburg. An appraisal of the property was made by Nick Tillema and Mark Rattermann. The asking price for the property is $367,000. The appraised value of this property is approximately $190,000. Upon adjournment of the meeting, Board Members were invited to tour the Lawler Building.
Time Warner Publishing (formerly Little, Brown) has generously donated 1500 books for the summer reading program and 250 Arthur Doll and Book sets to be used as prizes and incentives.
Kay Martin, the Library Director, pointed out that the Lebanon Public Library was featured in the National RIF Newsletter. Kay discussed having a summer amnesty month, with proceeds going to help the Lebanon Boys and Girls Club. A motion was made by Marsha Truitt and seconded by Linda Jones that August be the summer amnesty month and that in lieu of fines being collected, donations will be collected for the Lebanon Boys and Girls Club.
Under new business, Todd Meyer, the Board Attorney, helped prepare our Confidentiality Policy. We had the first reading at this meeting and the second reading will be at the June meeting. Employee salaries were discussed. A motion to approve the salaries was made by Huck Lewis and seconded by Ruth Lucas. This was a new salary resolution of approximately 5% for three positions.
Under old business, Kay is still waiting on one more bid for the Library painting project.
Under claims, a claim for Schnepf Associates and John Crane was added. A motion to approve the claims was made by Sharon Wood and seconded by Marsha Truitt.
The next meeting is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, June 27, at 4:30 p.m. This is a change from the normal meeting
