Roving Books Outreach Programs
The Roving Books Children's Programs allows the Library to reach children who are in daycare, schools, and summer camps and do not have the opportunity to visit the Library with a parent or caregiver.

Our goal is to be our community's first literacy caregivers.

Miss Tammy visits four summer camps throughout the summer and visits daycare and kindergarten classes once a month. She brings participating daycare facilities a bin containing 30 books, 1 video, and 2 teacher resources. She also presents story time programs for the children, reading stories, singing songs, giving prizes, and sharing about upcoming events in the Children's Department at the Library. Miss Tammy shares with each facility a variety of materials available for check-out by all children with a library card. Children also participate in the library's reading program, receiving prizes and attending special programs.

Healing Words

Lebanon Public Library maintains a free book cart at Witham Memorial Hospital. A couple of hundred selections are available at any one time. The cart is available to anyone visiting the Hospital, patients, employees, and volunteers! Individuals may keep the materials as long as they like. Library information is posted on the cart, including how to get a library card and program guides. Stop by, grab a book, and see what is happening at your Library! If you have materials you would like to donate, please contact Tammy.

Outreach helping to promote literacy for inmates

Did you know that bringing literacy to prisoners helps prevent offenders from repeating crimes and returning to jail? The Lebanon Public Library is stepping up to provide books donated by the public to Boone County Jail inmates together with other libraries and organizations promoting literacy.
