- The first Annual Bob Hawkins Memorial Ride sponsored by the Boone County Sheriffs Office, Lebanon Police Department, and H-I-M ( Hogs In Ministry) will be held at Mapleview Rest Home with registration from 10-11 am. The ride will be approximately 100 miles. The ride will end at the American Legion in Lebanon where food will be provided and prizes will be given away. Cost is $25 per bike and proceeds will go to Christmas Behind Bars and Boone County Jail Ministries. For more information contact

- Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library Teen End-of-Summer Celebration from 1-3 pm. Students in grades 6 - 12 may enter to win door prizes, chow down, play games and see who wins the grand prize raffle prizes. Summer Reading participants must enter the book titles read by noon August 1 to be eligible for prizes. Preregistration is suggested. - Movie Mondays Swiss Family Robinson at 3:30 pm at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (250 N. Fifth St., Zionsville). A weekly summer movie event for students entering grades K - 5. This week's PG-rated feature will be Swiss Family Robinson. Popcorn and lemonade will be provided. Sessions will continue August 3 and 10. - Computer Savvy Seniors - Part 1 from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (250 N. Fifth St., Zionsville). Cost is $95. A special introductory computer learning program for adults 55 and older. The basics of computers, Microsoft Windows, word processing, Internet and e-mail will be covered in a relaxed environment that moves at the participant's pace. Weekly three-hour sessions are scheduled each Tuesday from June 9 through August 11 and include new topic introductions and lesson reviews. $95 fee must be paid at registration. - The Music Group presents...Cool Jazz for a Hot Summer Evening from 7-8 pm at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (250 N. Fifth St., Zionsville). Cool jazz pieces will be explored during this informal music appreciation event. Each session, offered on the first Tuesday of the month, includes listening to and discussing rarely heard classical and jazz recordings. Refreshments provided. - "Feeding Our Future Once Child at a Time" Luncheon for Service Providers hosted by The Caring Center from 11:30 am to 1:15 pm. Location: Senior Services, 515 Crown Pointe Drive, Lebanon. Speaker - Bill Stanczykiewicz, President & CEO of Indiana Youth Institute will speak on "Youth and Hunger." MC - Mayor Huck Lewis.
- End of Summer Carnival from 5:30 - 7 pm at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (250 N. Fifth St., Zionsville). Families are invited to celebrate the library's 47th birthday and the end of Summer Reading with free carnival games, prizes and popcorn. Hot dogs and drinks will be available for purchase. The fun begins at 5:30 pm on the southeast corner of the parking lot. August 14 is the, hopefully unnecessary, rain date. Preregistration is suggested. - Backpack Attack from 9 am to noon at The Caring Center (1230 Ransdell Ct., Lebanon, IN 46052). Back packs/school supplies will be passed out to approximately 300 to 600 children in Boone County. Special Guests: Dave Jamerson, former player for the Houston Rockets. A fun day for all with food, drinks, games, give-a-ways and entertainment provided.
- Sherlock Holmes Festival from 12 - 5 pm at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (250 N. Fifth St., Zionsville). The Illustrious Clients of Indianapolis will host a Sherlock Holmes Festival of shorts, silents, and feature-length films Residents may enjoy this Saturday afternoon film festival complete with free movie theatre candy, popcorn, snacks and drinks. - Boone County Community Band Concert in Lebanon Memorial Park at the Joe Haboush Memorial Bandstand from 6-7 pm. This free concert will feature music from Broadway, Hollywood, and the Big Band era. All ages are welcome and bringing a blanket or lawn chair is recommended, as existing seating is limited.

- Books Over Coffee from 12-1 pm in the Lora Hussey Program Room at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library. Take a break, bring a sack lunch and join fellow book lovers to talk about favorite authors and their latest novel. This informal book discussion group meets the second Tuesday of each month. - Punctuation Celebration! at 10 am at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (250 N. Fifth St., Zionsville). Meet children's book author and poet Elsa Knight Bruno as she reads selections from her newly published book, Punctuation Celebration! Children in grades K - 5 and their parents should enjoy this poetry designed to teach punctuation in a fun and easy way. - Annual Hog Roast beginning at 4 pm at Old Union Church (5681 S. 500 W., Jamestown, IN 46147). Menu: pulled pork, with or without bun, hot dogs, baked beans, corn on cob, sliced tomatoes, other sides, pies and cakes etc. Cost is $10 adults, $6,50 seniors, children under 10 years no charge.
- Boone County Cancer Society sponsors the Boone County Battle of the BBQ at Lebanon Memorial Park in Lebanon, Indiana. Serving time is 5-7 pm. Boone County wide participation includes "chefs" from the fire departments, police departments, city and county employees, 40 churches and civic organizations. Activities include a Corn Hole Toss Tournament with trophies and prizes, a live band, games for children and lots of great food all for $10. 100% of money collected goes to Boone County cancer patients and their families. - Kent Bottenfield in Concert at 7 pm at First Baptist Church in Lebanon sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. (Kent Bottenfield is a former MLB All-Star Pitcher now a Christian recording artist.)

- Community Garage Sale from 11am-4pm at Congregation Shaarey Tefilla (3085 West 116th St. Carmel, IN 46032). Rain date is August 23. One last chance to clean out those closets. Congregation Shaarey Tefilla will offer parking lot spaces to anyone who would like to sell their family treasures. Spaces will go for $15. Congregation Shaarey Tefilla will provide the adverting and you provide the treasures. Congregation Shaarey Tefilla Sisterhood will serve concessions all afternoon. Vendors welcome. Goodwill Industries will be providing a donation bin available on sight during the event. Make checks out to CST Sisterhood with Garage sale in the memo. - Monika Herzig in the Jazz on the Point Concert Series from 6-8 pm at the Eagle Creek Park Marina. Be sure to bring your picnic baskets and blankets for a relaxing evening of music. The concert is free with park entry of $5/vehicle.

- McTeacher's Night from 5-8 pm at the McDonald's in Lebanon (1514 W South Street, Lebanon). McDonald's will donate a portion of the dining room sales made during the event to the Perry-Worth PTO. The class who has the most student attendees will win Happy Meal lunches for the entire class, courtesy of McDonald's. Perry-Worth teachers will act as greeters during the event, and PTO volunteers will be on dining-room cleanup duty. Prizes will be raffled off between 7:30 and 8 pm.

- Lebanon Community Arts Council of Indiana presents the Faculty Artist Series at the Boone County Courthouse. This month's theme is "Judicial Jazz" featuring The Shirley Judkins Combo featuring Shirley Judkins, Betsy Carpenter-Wilson, John Newby, Dave Hampton, and Greg Gegoine. The musicians will represent not only Boone County but other central Indiana counties as well! Shirley will present interesting facts and a commentary of how music has evolved through the stages of Americana, Ragtime, Blues, and Jazz. Enjoy a pre-concert Art Exhibit at 5:30 pm presented by talented, local artists. The "About the Music" public forum at 6:30 pm which features interesting facts about the musicians and their selections for the evening, followed by the concert at 7:30 pm. At 6:30 pm, Al McConnaha will present information and details of the "community quilt" that hangs elegantly in the Courthouse Rotunda. Come early to learn about this historic 'fabric' of our county! As always, this event is free to the public sponsored in part by Lamar & Lamar Insurance, and the Community Foundation of Boone County.

- Annual Helping Her Heal Charity Polo Match at Hickory Hall Polo Club (7545 East 100 North, Whitestown, IN 46075). Gates open at 11 am and match begins at 1 pm. General admission is $10/carload (pay at the gate); polo boxes are $175-$500. Please come for a family-friendly fun-filled day in the country. All funds go to provide emotional and financial support to women with female cancers.
