- Congregation Shaarey Tefilla's Eleventh Annual Casino Night and Silent Auction from 7:30 to 11:00 pm, at Congregation Shaarey Tefilla (3085 West 116th Street, in Carmel). New this year is the addition of live jazz music by The Mike Morris Band. The popular event—decked out in glitzy casino décor—generally attracts about 300 people from the community to its casino with black jack, craps, and poker, and to its silent auction, where many bargains may be had on everything from spa services, hotel stays, sports tickets, restaurant certificates, and appraised artwork. - 12th Annual Boone County Community In-Service at the Witham Health Services Pavilion at the Boone County 4-H fairgrounds from 8:45 am until 4 pm. This year's conference will focus on the issues surrounding bullying, as well as other challenges facing our children today. This conference is a must for anyone who works with children, including teachers, school officials, law enforcement officers, elected officials, clergy and social workers. Nationally renowned Judge Glenda Hatchett, former Chief Presiding Judge of the Fulton County (Atlanta) Georgia Juvenile Court will be the key note speaker. Judge Hatchett formerly presided over the syndicated show, Judge Hatchett, and is the founder of Parent Power Now, the premiere online parenting network. Registration is $45 and includes a continental breakfast and lunch catered by The Flower Barn. Continuing education credits for social workers, educators, attorneys and law enforcement officials will be available. - Lebanon Rotary Club Speech Contest at 10 am at the Lebanon Public Library (104 E. Washington St. Lebanon, IN 46052). High school students residing in the Lebanon and Western Boone school districts are eligible to participate in the local contest. The local winner advances to the District 6560 competition at 10 am on Saturday, April 9, at the First Baptist Church in Carmel. The theme of the 2011 Rotary 6560 District Speech Contest must pertain to a Rotary program, project or theme. The local winner will receive a $100 U.S. Savings Bond, with $50 U.S. Savings Bonds for the second and third place winners. The top two contestant advance to the district contest, where the prizes are $500 for first place, $250 for second and $100 for third. The local competition will include a maximum of 15 participants. If more than 15 people apply for the contest, a blind draw will determine the contestants. The speech length must be between five and seven minutes. Students will be judged on content and delivery. Notes, note cards or outlines cannot be used during the speech, although the student may use props or visual aids in their presentation. Students should dress as they would for a college or job interview. District winners also present their speeches at the Rotary 6560 District Conference on Saturday, April 30, in Carmel. Contestants should submit their name, school, age, grade, home address, telephone number, and e-mail address to Rotary Club of Lebanon Secretary

- One Size Fits All Comedy Improvisation at 7pm at Center Stage Community Theatre (604 Powell St. Lebanon, IN 46052). One Size Fits All is Lafayette's friendly neighborhood improv comedy troupe. Two teams of improv players battle each other and flex their comedic muscles as they make up scenes, games and songs right on the spot based on suggestions from our lovely and well-dressed audience.
