- Opening Reception for "Portfolio" - An exhibition of 8th Grade Student Art from Zionsville Middle School and Zionsville West Middle School from 5 to 8 pm at the SullivanMunce Cultural Center (205 West Hawthorne Street, Zionsville, IN 46077). This first time exhibit showcaes the talents of young artists attending Zionsville Middle School and Zionsville West Middle School. Admission is free. The public is welcome. Exhibition continues through June 6, 2009. Art Center Hours are from 10 am to 4 pm, Tuesday through Saturday.

- Community Clean Up Day (rain date: Saturday, May 9, 2009) from 8 am to 12 pm sponsored by the Greater Lebanon Community Vision Committee. Be part of this fun and work filled day. Help make our city look like we, as a community, care about the image we present when people travel through. Help make Lebanon "SPARKLE." Get a team together, chose a captain, pick a name for your team, fill out the application (PDF) and return it to: Boone County Chamber of Commerce, 221 N. Lebanon St. Lebanon, IN 46052. A lunch will be provided for everyone registered beginning at noon.
- 22nd Annual Run for the Son sponsored by the Lebanon Chapter, Inner State Warriors, of the Christian Mototcyclist Association (CMA). Anyone interested in participating in this event can meet at Pavilion Cinemas parking lot in Lebanon at 9:30 am for registration, and the ride will begin at 10 am. Ride will be approximately 100 miles round trip. This ride will seek sponsors to help raise money for CMA to "spread the light of Jesus to every nation." The Inner State Warriors is one of more than 1000 chapters involved with CMA. In the past 21 years over 31 million dollars has been used to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to millions of people around the world. Every penny goes to work, 20% goes for Bibles to closed and restricted countries. 20% goes to for motocycles and other transportation for native pastors in countries around the world. 20% goes to the JESUS film, and 40% goes to CMA to reachmotorcyclists here and internationally. - Computer Savvy Seniors from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library. Cost: $95. A special introductory computer learning program for adults 55 and older. The basics of computers, Microsoft Windows, word processing, internet and e-mail will be covered in a relaxed environment that moves at the participant's pace. Weekly three hour sessions are scheduled each Tuesday from March 24 through May 26 and include new topic introductions and lesson reviews. $95 fee must be paid at registration. - Baby Chicks from 10 - 10:45 am and 1 - 1:45 pm at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (250 N. Fifth St., Zionsville). Children 3 - 6 may enjoy read-aloud stories about chicks and other baby animals and then imagine what it would be like to hatch out of an egg. A themed craft will be included. If a real chick has hatched from the youth department incubator, participants will be given the opportunity to see and hold it. - The Music Group presents In Memoriam...from 7 - 8:30 pm in the Lora Hussey Room at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (250 N. Fifth St., Zionsville). Music written as a tribute to an event or person will be featured during this informal music appreciation event. Each session, offered on the first Tuesday of the month, includes listening to and discussing rarely heard classical and jazz recordings. - The Boone County Bluebird Society Spring Meeting at 7 pm at the Boone REMC Community Room (1207 Indianapolis Ave., Lebanon). Guest speaker Wendell Zetterberg, Jr. will give a presentation about FrogWatch USA, focusing on central Indiana amphibians, the problems they face here and worldwide and how we can help, plus a few live amphibians to meet up close. - Culture at the Creek reception for artist Pat Cotton from 6-9 pm at Sugar Creek Art Center (127 South Pearl Street, Thorntown, IN 46071). Her show, entitled "Hoosier Roots with a World View" will feature fine artwork inspired by Cotton's world travels to Spain, Greece, Peru, Chile, Tunisia, and Carthage. Visitors can enjoy light refreshments and live music in a casual atmosphere, while browsing Pat's exhibition and the other fine art on display in the Center's three floors of studios. Pat will be joined by some of her fellow resident artists working in their studios throughout the evening. Numerous live art demonstrations with visiting local artisans are also planned. Culture at the Creek artist events are casual dress, free and open to all ages. Pat will be the Center's featured artist for the month of May. Pat's show will run from April 30 through May 30, and will feature some of her nationally juried works and award-winning fine art pieces. Pat's show may be viewed at no charge during the Center's open hours on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11 am -5 pm. Private tours are also available, call 765-436-7102 for an appointment.

Fiesta Dinner and Christian Concert sponsored by Thorntown Christian Church at Western Boone. Dinner will be served from 5-7pm and the concert will be held from 7-9pm. The concert features the band Remnant from Kentucky. Cost: $8 for Dinner, $15 for the concert or $20 for both. What a deal! Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. from students in grades 6 -12 for the library's Teen Volunteer Corps. Participants agree to work at least one, two-hour shift each week throughout the summer. Vacations, camps and summer school can all be worked around. All volunteers must attend a Teen Volunteer Corps training session from 4 to 5:30 pm on May 15 or 6 to 7:30 pm on May 21. Applications are available at the Teen and Adult Reference desk.

- A Victorian Strawberry Party with Mary Lincoln from 10 - 11 am in the Lora Hussey Room at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (250 N. Fifth St., Zionsville). By the 1850s the United States was caught up in what was known as "strawberry fever," with people throwing strawberry parties and whole towns holding strawberry festivals. First Lady Mary Lincoln was famous for her strawberry parties. Residents are invited to step back in time and enjoy one of her traditional events, hosted by Lincoln expert, author and historical re-enactor Donna McCreary, as Mary Lincoln. Nationally renowned, McCreary will regale participants with entertaining tales of lavish Springfield, Illinois and Washington D.C. soirees, while they sample Lincoln's favorite vanilla almond cake with strawberries, strawberry ice cream and whipped cream; elegant strawberry punch; shortbreads with strawberry jam and hot strawberry tea. - "Ladies Only Introduction to Defensive Pistol" course - the Boone County Sheriff Department will offer a 16 hour course to qualified applicants. (There is no difference in the curriculum. It is merely limited to ladies only. A small .25 or .22 caliber pistol IS NOT recommended for this course.) It will be held at the Boone County Sheriff Firearms Range in Lebanon, IN. This course is designed for the novice to the experienced female firearms owner. Requirements include either a valid Indiana Firearms Permit or Criminal History Report verifying the student as a "Proper Person," eye and hearing protection, a suitable pistol, approximately 400 rounds of ammunition, and tuition of $150.
