- Autism/Asperger’s Family Support Group - meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7pm at Centenary Methodist Church (910 Fordice Road, Lebanon). - Introduction to the Defensive Pistol Course for qualified applicants offered by the Boone County Sheriff Department at the Boone County Sheriff Firearms Range in Lebanon, IN. This course is designed for the novice to the experienced male or female firearms owner. The two day course instructs the student in Mindset, Gunhandling, and Marksmanship. It is instructed by Boone County Sheriff Ken Campbell and staff. Campbell is the Boone County Sheriff, Department Senior Rangemaster, a guest Firearms Instructor at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, has Instructor Certification from Yavapai Firearms Academy, Ltd. and is an Adjunct Instructor and Rangemaster for Gunsite Academy, Inc. in Paulden, AZ. (http://www.gunsite.net) Requirements include either a valid Indiana Firearms Permit or Criminal History Report verifying the student as a "Proper Person," eye and hearing protection, a suitable pistol, approximately 400 rounds of ammunition, and tuition of $150. (As there is no fiscal impact on the Department for the course, all costs relating to the course must come from the student tuition's.) - NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Based Support Group Meeting 6:30 - 8:00 pm in the downstairs meeting room at the Lebanon Public Library. Do you or your child suffer from a physical or mental disability? Are you looking for someplace you can go to talk to others and receive education regarding those disabilities? In this group you will have a place to share thoughts and concerns with others who have the same disorders, obtain support, and become further educated. - Second annual Charles "Pete" Paddock Golf Outing at Zionsville Golf Club. There will be two shotgun starts, a morning flight at 8 am, and an afternoon flight at 2 pm. Space will be limited to 18 teams per flight. Cost for the event is $50 per golfer, which coversyour cart, lunch, and awards. There will also be a $10,000 hole-in-one contest. The deadline for entry is September 7. Hole and tee sponsorship opportunities are available for $100, and cash donations are accepted as well. Entry and sponsorship forms can be picked up at the Community Foundation of Boone County (60 E. - YETI Golf Outing at 11 am (register at 10:30 am) at Brookshire Golf Course, Carmel, IN. $80 per player. Players must register by Aug. 31, 2007. Award for 1st Place Team, Closest-to-the-Pin Contest, Mulligan Tickets, Longest Drive Contest. Refreshments Provided. YETI (Youth Enhancement and Training Initiative, Inc.) is a not-for-profit organization which built an orphanage in Nepal as one of its first projects. YETI also uses a portion of donated funds to help underprivileged youth in Central Indiana. A minimum of 10-15% of funds raised are used to help underprivileged youth in Indiana.
- Annual Equinox Golf Tournament at Cool Lake Golf Club in Lebanon, Indiana. Win a Chevy Equinox with a hole in one! Other hole-in-one prizes are a Dell computer, a set of Ben Hogan irons, or a Bose sound system! All proceeds to go to the Capital Campaign Fund of Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Check-in at 12:15 pm, tee off at 1 pm with a shotgun start/scramble format, and 5:30 pm picnic/prizes on the deck. - 2nd Annual Rob Voils Memorial Car & Bike Show in downtown Jamestown (46147). Rain date is Saturday, September 29. Registration is from 2-5 pm, and awards are at 7 pm. Awards given for: Best of Show, Best Chevy, Best GM Other, Best Ford, Best Mopar, Best Special Interest, Best Hot Rod, Best Truck, Best Tuner/Compact, Best Bike. - Festival of the Turning Leaves in Thorntown.
- "Hoof & Woof", Lebanon Parks & Recreation 1st annual Pet Day at the Park is scheduled for 10 am at Lebanon Memorial Park. This event will include a Pet Parade, where pets, along with their owners will have a chance to strut their stuff! They may wear costumes/clothing, perform tricks or simply enjoy the stroll through the park. The parade will begin at 11 am. There will be contests for various categories, such as: largest pet, cutest pet, pet/pwner look-a-like & more! Winners will be chosen by viewer's choice. Voting cards can be purchased for $.50 each, 3 for $1 or 20 for $5. Several guests will also be attending including representatives from the (future) Boone County Humane Society, 2nd Hand Pets, a dog training presentation and possibly a Pug rescue group, as well as a New Foundland rescue group, among others!
