It’s spring! And our thoughts turn to…Z’Run, of course! What better reason to break out the shorts and show off the spring break tan than a benefit run for the Outdoor Learning Lab on the middle school grounds? The 8K run and two-mile run/walk will take place at Zionsville Middle School at 9 am (run) and 9:15 am (walk) on Saturday, April 24, 2004. Students, families, neighbors, and spring-fever sufferers of all age and ability levels are encouraged to participate! Z'Run participants will travel along the scenic Zionsville trail.

The ZMS PTO is teaming up with the Coalition for a Healthy and Active America (CHAA) to organize the run, which also includes a family fitness fair and prize drawings. An entire family can pre-register for Z’Run for $40, which includes two t-shirts. Individuals may pre-register for $15 and will also receive a t-shirt. Entries must be received by Monday, April 19 to be considered pre-registered. Race-day entries and those received after April 19 are $20 for individuals and $40 for families but do not include t-shirts. Hard copy versions of the entry forms are available at the middle school, in the Times-Sentinel, or at the Runners Forum in Carmel.

The Zionsville Times-Sentinel is a media sponsor of Z’Run. Gold sponsors for the race include: Aspen Education; Braun Technologies; Center for Diagnostic Imaging (CDI); Dura Builders; Dr. Jay Hughes, Orthodontist; NAI Olympia Partners; Professional Fitness; Ripberger Construction; and St. Vincent Sports Medicine Center. Silver sponsors include: Browns on Fifth; Suzanne Germaine, DDS; Hat World; Zionsvillle Jazzercise; Jerry McMahan, Tucker Realty; Pulte Homes; and Wild Birds Unlimited.

Z’Run chairs are Shannon Connolly, Jenny Isenbarger, Lisa Remley, and Mary Ann Sturges. Last year, Z’Run brought in more than $6,000 to be used for improving the protected wetlands, site of the learning lab, with walking paths, bridges, an amphitheater, and pavilion. For questions, please call Jenny Isenbarger at 317-873-8658.
