9 April 1998 Meeting Minutes

Boone County REMC Meeting Room
6:10 P.M.

Pursuant to Notice given all members of the Board of Directors via Electronic Mail.

The meeting was called to Order by President Wallace and the agenda was pursued as previously distributed via E-Mail. Board Members present were John Wallace, Terry McCain, Tom Garoffolo, and Dave Truitt. Monte Bowman was unable to attend due to his son's track meet.

President Wallace welcomed all those to the meeting. Informally John asked about the Library's representative before convening the meeting. System Administrator's Report - The last two classes at the Extension office have been conducted. The classes were all full. Tom appeared at one and John at another to assist. 1,772 HITS FOR THE MONTH ! AN ALL TIME HIGH ! Many of the other sites are also up - possibly as a result of the classes that made use of the page. 51,153 Accesses to all of the files on the server for the past month.

Now that Terry has tapes (they came today) she can concentrate on backups of the whole system and conduct a cycle every three (3) days. Each tape is 4 Gigabytes. All of the candidates for the County election are available for placement now and can be added soon. 1710 hits were on the library page this past month.

John brought up the idea that the Library's pages should be maintained by BCCN even though we may eventually turn over the schools' pages to the schools. Cheryl is learning some things about HTML and will be able to help and do some things on the library page. Next Thursday Terry is going to the Community Foundation meeting at Parr, Richey, Obremsky and Morton, and show them the page that is established and working. Tom will try and get some pictures for posting on the page.

ITEM II: Content Report - The group was in agreement that there should not be any link to 93.1 (WNAP) - as a result of Howard Stern.

John thought that as soon as more Zionsville material is up there will be some more media coverage.

Treasurer's Report - John distributed the report from Monte in his absence. This month's report was impressive. Many renewals were present. Indeed exciting to see so many keeping their graphic ad or membership.

End of Fiduciary Relationship with Lebanon School Corporation - John brought this up again and debate ensued between those present. There are pros and cons both ways on this issue. The insurance coverage for the server is through the school and would probably triple if the school's umbrella is forsaken. For the time being we will stay under the school's fiduciary relationship status.

TCI Commercials - Tom indicated that the representative from TCI he had been dealing with was no longer in Lebanon but was still with the company. We still have interest in putting up an ad on Cable TV.

New Business - Maintenance Agreement. Terry indicated that we need to stay on top of issues regarding our maintenance agreement, due to the age of the equipment. There should probably be some research done on this area.

The meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
