Step Ahead Reorganization
Direction of group: State funding for Step Ahead was eliminated for FY 2006. Funding for the group is coming from an agreement entered into between the Boone County Office of Family and Children and Step Ahead Community Resources United, written 9/05 for the amount of $7,000 for the period 10-1-05-9-30-06.
Target population: Families in Boone County who might be at risk for involvement with the OFC for any reason. Emphasis is on prevention, with special care taken to concentrate on the family unit retaining its ability to advocate for its own members, prevent incidence of child abuse and neglect, delinquency, and to strengthen family relationships and foster community awareness. Goals include assisting families so as to prevent the placement of children in institutional care, avoid involvement with the court system, and assist in the development of long term, permanent solutions for families and children.
Meeting format: Meetings are primarily for members to exchange information, discuss issues pertinent to the target population, and share resources.
Members: Members of the group are volunteers from the community with interest in pursuing goals as stated above, representing themselves or representing agencies or institutions in the community with similar goals.
Meetings: Meetings are held quarterly, in January, April, July and October, on the third Thursday of the month in which the quarter falls, from 12:15 to 1:30pm. Contact the Coordinator for meeting location.
