Participants may read to a furry, four-legged friend from TheraPets of Indiana on the first Tuesday of each month. The certified therapy dogs help create a safe environment for children as they read aloud and practice their reading skills. - 8th annual All American Kids Fishing Derby from 8am to 12noon at Eagle Creek Park's coffer dam sponsored by the Eagle Creek Park Foundation. Pre-registration is required and the event is limited to the first 400 to sign up. Registration forms are available at the Eagle Creek Park Office, 7840 West 56th Street, the Eagle Creek Park Foundation, or by calling the park office at 317.327.7116. Participants are asked to bring their own fishing equipment, if possible. However, children without fishing equipment are still encouraged to come. The Eagle Creek Park Foundation has gathered more than 150 rods and reels that will be available for youngsters to use during the derby. All participants must be between the ages of four and 14 and must be accompanied by an adult. Free hot dogs, chips, drinks and goodies will be provided for all youngsters and their families. - Computer Savvy Seniors - Part 1 from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (250 N. Fifth St., Zionsville). Cost is $95. A special introductory computer learning program for adults 55 and older. The basics of computers, Microsoft Windows, word processing, Internet and e-mail will be covered in a relaxed environment that moves at the participant's pace. Weekly three-hour sessions are scheduled each Tuesday from June 9 through August 11 and include new topic introductions and lesson reviews. $95 fee must be paid at registration. The academy is led by the Boone County Sheriff's Office, Lebanon Fire Fighters and local Emergency Responders. Cost is $25, and scholarships are available for qualifying students. This camp was created to give teens a look at Law Enforcement and Firefighting first hand. Cadets will participate in classroom and hands on activities. These activities include sessions in firearms, defensive tactics, fire equipment, building searches, traffic stops and team building. Creating a fabulously decorated cake will be easy for those who complete this session for students entering grades 6 -12. - 20th annual Symphony at Sunset Concert featuring the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra will be held at 8 pm at the Abner Longley Park in Lebanon IN. - Annual LHS Music Boosters Steak Fry from 5 - 7pm at the Lebanon Memorial Park Large Shelter House. The Music Boosters will serve hotdogs, ribeye sandwiches, baked beans, applesauce, chips and various desserts. A steak combo meal is $7 and a hotdog combo meal is $5.The Boone County Community Band will perform a free concert at 6 pm. All proceeds benefit the LHS Music Boosters.
