About the Friends of Boone County Trails

The Friends of Boone County Trails (FBCT) is a group of Boone County residents who promote the development of trailways in our community. The group meets regularly to discuss strategies for acquiring and developing land for trails, as well as to promote trail usage as a part of a healthy and active community.

FBCT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (a component fund of the Community Foundation of Boone County). The FBCT is part of a larger project, the Farm Heritage Trail Project. Farm Heritage Trail

The Farm Heritage Trail follows the former route of the Big Four Railroad in Boone County, Indiana and beyond. The corridor has been serving the transportation needs of the region since 1852 when the railroad first put the line into service. Today 20 miles of trail connects cities and towns across the county. Once complete the 40 mile trail will cross through some of the most beautiful farm country in America joining Lafayette to Zionsville through Colfax, Thorntown, Lebanon and Whitestown.
